Over the last few years I have been looking forward to my 40h birthday.  Not with any hopes of being incredibly successful or having any grand dreams – I just looked forward to it.  I can say at this point that I wish I had had some grand dreams – at least then I could measure something at this point.

But you know life isn’t about measuring.  It isn’t about how much money you made or how big a house you bought or how educated you are.  It is simply about the legacy you will leave behind.  It is about the people you effect in your lifetime.  Do you know how you effect people in life?

We always hear that question “How many people will be at your funeral”.  I would like to think that there will be many at mine – but in all reality – if there are only a few – I pray those few were impacted in a way that gave them hope, that showed them Christ, that helped them succeed.

Today is the culmination of a six day old idea that I will admit – is not even original – I got it from from someone else doing the same thing for their 50th birthday.  Today is a day to give.  I have been encouraging people I know to go and donate $40 to a family who needs our support.  The Joyce’s are friends of mine and they have a 5 year old daughter named Megan.  Megan has leukemia.

Let me tell you this does not in any way define who Megan is.  Megan is a cheerful loving girl like any other 5 year old.  She loves to eat (a lot of ketchup), she loves to play with toys, she signs, and dare I say – like every little girl I know – she loves to talk on  the phone 🙂

I am blessed whenever I get to hear her on the phone b/c she likes to tell me everything that is going on.  I don’t talk to her often but I love it when I do.  She is a blessing.
