Hey God – a Book Review

This past week I was sent he book “Hey God, I’ve got some guy named Jonah in my stomach and I think I’m going to throw up!” in the mail to read over with my daughter.   She loved it.  And I did too.

Funny long name but it made me want to read it for sure.  My daughter is 6 going on 7 and she and she was able to read most of it to me.  I guess if she had the energy she would have read it all but she got kind of tired about 2/3 of the way through.

She wanted me to keep reading however and we have read it multiple times since.  The book, as you can probably tell by the title, is about the story of Jonah, from the whale’s point of view.

The whale of course is asked by God to go swallow a human and he promptly refuses and swims the other way – just like Jonah.   Anyway I won’t give the whole book away.

Suffice it to say the book was age appropriate and fun to read.  It kept my attention and my daughter’s attention.  Is it worth the $10 retail tag price?  I wouldn’t buy it at that price but I’m used to $7 paperbacks with 300-500 pages or more.

The book has a section in the back called Parent Connection that gives you more resources to help your child learn the story and the principles behind it.  Kind of fun actually – pretending to be inside a giant fish in the dark.

Anyway – it was fun.  If you have a chance to borrow it from a friend – check it out and see, or drop by the local bookstore and see for yourself.

God Bless and Give with Passion!
